Amy Clay

Educator | Interventional Radiology & Cardiology Coder | Education Officer

Hi, I’m Amy Clay.

I started working in Health Information Management at 19yrs old - back when charts were still on paper. Like many coders, I learned quickly that formal training was rare, support was limited, and most of the time you were expected to “just figure it out.”

When I moved into Interventional Radiology, that lack of guidance became even more obvious. IVR charts were complex, time-consuming, and intimidating - and there was no roadmap.

So I built one.

I spent years researching guidelines, creating cheat sheets, flowcharts, and tools to make IVR coding faster, clearer, and more accurate. Today, I teach coders not just what to code - but how to think through IVR charts with confidence.

A few things I’m proud to share:

-25 years in medical coding
-Coding exclusively IVR for 10+ years
-CIRCC Certified (Interventional Radiology & Cardiology)
-Coded for top hospitals across the U.S., including NewYork-Presbyterian
-Former Education Officer, East Texas AAPC Chapter
-National speaker for AAPC chapters and conferences
